Disney talent to present ‘Moana’ and new short ‘Inner Workings’ at Annecy 2016
Highly respected filmmakers Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog) will be representing Walt Disney Animation Studios at this year’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival in a presentation an exclusive and previously-unseen preview of the studios forthcoming feature Moana, a comedy adventure in which the titular teenager sets out to prove herself as a ‘master wayfinder’ in order to save her people, assisted on her voyage by demigod Maui.
Annecy have announced that Clements and Musker will be presenting an assortment of new artwork and work-in-progress sequences from the film, as well as elaborating on the exhaustive research conducted by their team to make the film feel as culturally authentic as possible.
Annecy is the world’s premier festival for animation lovers and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share Moana with this crowd.

With a US release date planned for November 23rd of this year, Moana will be accompanied by an all-new Disney short Inner Workings that will receive its world premiere at Annecy. The short film, directed by Leo Matsuda and created by a small Disney team blending CG and traditional, hand-drawn animation, tells of an “internal struggle between a man’s pragmatic, logical side and his free-spirited, adventurous half” and “explores the importance of finding balance in daily life”. The director will be in attendance to present the film at Annecy alongside producer Sean Lurie.
