Further guests and events revealed for Annecy 2016
Following last week’s announcement of the festival’s focus on 21st century Korean animation, further programme details for this year’s upcoming edition of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival have been revealed.
Expanding on the tradition of Work In Progress sessions for feature films – which this year will include Trolls (US), In the Corner of Little World (Japan), The Shaman Sorceress (Korea) and Zombillenium (France), this June Annecy will also feature four sessions offering insight into the development stages of animated TV series from the directors themselves. A highlight of this year’s sessions will be the return of Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Samurai Jack following a ten-year hiatus.
This year’s keynote speakers have also been revealed to be Ankama Games co-founder Anthony Roux as well as Aardman’s Peter Lord and David Sproxton.
Another major guest to attend will be John Kricfalusi – whose body of work includes the creation of The Ren and Stimpy Show, music videos for Tenacious D, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Björk as well his involvement with The Simpsons in recent years – presenting a special masterclass.
