Annecy 2015 Reveals Programme
The Annecy festival has today announced its official programme and given animation fans from across the world a taste of what to expect when the calendar’s top animation event returns to the French lakeside town in June this year.
A few highlights from the festival include the new film from Adam Elliot, returning to the short form with Ernie Biscuit, his first short since 2003’s Oscar winning Harvie Krumpet. Love in the Time of March Madness from Melissa Johnson and Robertino Zambrano also enters the short film competition alongside films from the likes of Thedore Ushev and Don Hetzfeldt, with Teeth by Daniel Gray and Tom Brown, The Betrayal by Susan Young and Five Minute Museum from Paul Bush representing the UK’s chances in the short film competition category.
Graduation films see After the End from Sam Southward, Edmond from Nina Grantz, My Dad from Marcus Armitage, Pombo Loves You by Steven Warne, Small People With Hats by Sarina Nihei, Tusk by Rory Waudby-Tolley and Way Out by Yukai Du presented as the best of British student efforts alongside other international students’ work.
Over in the world of television Bing and Hey Duggee are in competition for TV Films whilst Zane Whittingham’s Children of the Holocaust, Moving On by Ainslie Henderson sit alongside Absolut “Dark Noir” by Rafael Grampa, NSPCC “I Saw Your Willy” by Dan Abdo, Jason Patterson, NSPCC “Lucy and the Boy” by Yves Geleyn, Penny Dreadful “Dorian Gray” by Gergely Wootsch, Royal Observatory Greenwich “Sun” by Amael Isnard, The Simpsons “Couch Gag” by Sylvain Chomet (produced by Th1ng), Throne “Tharsis Sleeps” by Tom Bunker, Nicos Livesly and Triumph Lace & Unravels by Makying PING in the Commissioned films category.
Add to that exhaustive list the rest of the films in competition, feature films, films out of competition, screening events, special programmes, previews, outdoor screenings, breakfast shorts, signing sessions, MIFA, Annecy Plus, pedalo races on the lake, nights out in Captain Pub, paper aeroplanes hitting the back of your head and people shouting “LAPIN!” whenever a rabbit appears on screen and you’ve got yourself a pretty packed festival.
