Animation+ To Premiere Original Feature Film “The Full Fungus” From Acclaimed Animation Creator Jim Lujan

Streaming Ink Media and celebrated independent animator Jim Lujan are excited to announce the premiere of the highly anticipated, boundary-pushing feature film The Full Fungus exclusively on Animation+ on March 21, 2025, at 10pm EST / 7pm PST. This marks a groundbreaking moment for Animation+, as The Full Fungus becomes the first entirely original, independent animated feature film to premiere on the platform.
The Full Fungus is a feature-length animated crime comedy directed and animated by cult underground artist Jim Lujan. Lujan employs and celebrates the classic LA noir genre to tell the story of private eye Chino Diamond on a search for a missing piece of music by the late jazz legend Mink Fungus. True to the genre, there are plenty of plot twists and period music set against some comedic noir Los Angeles atmosphere.
Known for his distinct animation style, Lujan is a veteran of independent animation. He co-created the feature film Revengeance with animation legend Bill Plympton and has contributed his work to Adult Swim, Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted, and numerous film festivals. Lujan also served as a principal character designer on Fox’s Bless the Harts TV series.
In addition to Lujan, who is well known in art and music circles for contributing original score and character voices to his own films, the film features vocal performances by many of his frequent collaborators, including prominent character actor Charley Rossman (Superbad) as Diamond, and punk-hop icon Deacon Burns (Kounterclockwise) as Fungus.
“I’ve been working for the last fifteen months to bring The Full Fungus to life,” said Lujan, “and I can’t wait to share the film with as wide an audience as possible through this exclusive premiere on Animation+.”
Animation+ is a new streaming service and studio focused on delivering bold, uncensored adult animation and comedy tailored to millennial and Gen Z audiences. The Channel is currently carried free of charge on The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, and Plex, with other platforms set to carry the FAST (free ad-supported television) channel over the coming months. Shows currently streaming on the channel include Cyanide and Happiness, Meat Canyon, Bridge Kids and Big Lez Official.
The premiere of The Full Fungus on March 21, 2025, is a significant moment for Animation+, establishing itself as the first FAST channel to premiere an original, independent feature-length animated movie.
