Animation Commission Alert: ‘Animation Station’- A Touring Exhibition of Interactive Contemporary Animation aimed at Children and Young People
Following a successful funding application to Arts Council England, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre – Scunthorpe, darts (Doncaster Community Arts) and The Civic – Barnsley, hereafter referred to as the ‘touring consortium’, would like to commission a range of creative companies/animators/artists/designers to produce interactive artworks and displays to engage a wide range of audiences but with particular emphasis on young people (older children between the ages of 13 and 19) in a national touring exhibition.
We anticipate that the commissioned works will be representative of different techniques in animation, both historical and contemporary, such as Zoetropes, Praxinoscopes, Stop Frame, animated touch technology and other new technologies, to name but a few. As commissioners, we are not experts in animation and are very keen to have our knowledge expanded! We are not looking to develop a ‘history of animation’ exhibition. This has already been done very well elsewhere. We want to have our imaginations fired, and have our eyes opened to the creative possibilities of animation so that we can offer an immersive and interactive exhibition to children and young people, as well as the wider audiences that visit our venues.
The deadline for the application is 26th January 2015 – further details can be found in the brief below:
