Animation Apprentice is a new animation school, teaching the art of 3D character and creature animation online.
Students taking our intensive 30 week course will learn how to:
• Make 3D characters come alive.
• Understand the mechanics of motion, physics, timing, and weight
• Use the leading industry software – Maya 2013.
• Create an animated scene from start to finish using our proven work methods
• Animate characters talking, using dialogue, music and sound effects
• Animate animals and creatures
• Create and animate moving cameras
• Edit and refine their Demo Reel to create the perfect calling card for employers
In short, learn every skill necessary to go out and land that first 3D animation job.
By the end of the 30 week course students will have completed dozens of shots, each one ready to use on their Demo Reel.
How does the course work?
The Animation Apprentice course is divided up into 5 modules over 30 weeks, covering all the important elements of animation. Each week starts with a Project Brief, telling students what exercise they should complete, what videos to watch, and in what order. Students complete their exercise and send us their Maya file. We review their work and send them a bespoke video critique. This way they get personally tailored feedback showing exactly what they did right or wrong, and specifically how to improve your shot.
How long does the course last?
The course lasts 30 weeks, or just over 6 months. The final 4 weeks are focused on reviewing students’ Demo Reels, to make sure that they have a great reel so they can go out and find work as a professional animator.

You can play the video back as many times as you like – and make your own fixes in your own time.
