ABC Au snaps up JAM Media’s Little Roy
Multiple award-winning creative production, distribution and licensing company JAM Media has secured a key broadcast deal with ABC Australia for its new live action/animated series Little Roy (52 x 14’).
The broadcaster has picked up exclusive Australian TV rights to the series and will air the show in 2017.
Jointly commissioned by Controller of CBeebies Kay Benbow and Controller of CBBC Cheryl
Taylor, Little Roy will air on both channels. The Irish Film board & Northern Ireland Screen have supported the show since inception with developing and now production funding.
Little Roy follows the everyday adventures of five-year-old Roy O’Brien, as his cartoon abilities and enthusiasm cause some form of mayhem. To solve his real life quandary, Little Roy escapes into his imagination. In a full cartoon sequence, he takes on the persona of ‘Wonder Roy,’ and with his sidekick Finn, he plays out his predicament of the day, finds a solution and applies it to the real world. Although it doesn’t always go to plan!
Emma Mungavin, Acquisitions Manager at the ABC, said: “We are delighted to have acquired Little Roy for broadcast on ABC KIDS and know that Little Roy’s Adventures will be sure to resonate with our Australian pre-schoolers and their families.”
John Reynolds, chief Commercial Officer at JAM Media added: “Australia is a major territory so we are thrilled to have the ABC on board Little Roy. The show is quirky, fun and full of energy and we are confident it will appeal to pre-school children the world over.”
