90th Academy Award Nominations Announced – Animation Categories

The 2018, and 90th, Academy Awards nominations have been announced. The awards celebrate artistic and technical merit in the film industry to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements. As usual, Skwigly brings you the animation-focused nominations, and whats to know you you’d like to see pick up the big awards come March 4th 2018!

Last year Disney / Pixar cleared the floor, picking up the awards between them; Zootopia won the Best Animated Feature award, with Piper winning Best Animated Short. The Best visual effects award went to ‘live action’ Jungle Book.

So here are the nominations for the animation-related Oscars this year:

Best Animated Feature

• The Boss Baby – Tom McGrath and Ramsey Naito (20th Century Fox)
• The Breadwinner – Nora Twomey and Anthony Leo
• Coco – Lee Unkrich and Darla K. Anderson (Walt Disney)
• Ferdinand –  Carlos Saldanha (20th Century Fox)
• Loving Vincent – Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman and Ivan
