24 hours left before the deadline for submissions for the Dublin Animation Film Festival
There is just over 24 hours left before the deadline for submissions for the Dublin Animation Film Festival.
This year’s Dublin Animation Film Festival will be held on the 16th and 17th of October 2015 in IADT (Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology) and the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire.
Last year’s festival received 201 short films.
It’s one of the fun parts of running the festival.’ Fionnghuala Ní Néill, the festival director commented. ‘When we started in 2011, we held the event in Blackrock. It was very low key, as we didn’t have a marketing budget. It’s still challenging, but the word has spread and we are getting some great entries.
‘Last year we were delighted to welcome Bill Plympton and hold the Irish première of his film ‘Cheatin’. Bill was very complimentary about the Irish shorts he viewed – particularly ‘Wounded’ by Helga Kristjana Bjarnadottir, ‘The Ledge End of Phil (From Accounting)’ by Paul O’Muiris, and ‘Coda’by Alan Holly.’
‘This year’s festival should be a lot of fun. We will be screening Irish shorts that were created between 1995-2015 as part of the Irish Design 2015 programme of events as well as screening entries that are shortlisted for the DAFF 2015 awards.’
The number of entries this year looks set to be well over 201 – but we won’t know until the 30th June what the final number will be. I’d like to give credit to the organisations who have supported us over the years: Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, IADT, (Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology) Diep at Home, Ouzos, Dún Laoghaire Business Improvement District and Dublin Bus. Their support has been invaluable.
So if anyone has been thinking of entering their short animated film – get it in asap!
