21 Projects Selected for Young Horizons Industry 2024

Young Horizons Industry are delighted to announce selected projects to be pitched at Young Horizons Industry, international co-production forum for films and series for young audiences (30.09-2.10.2024, Warsaw). 11 films and 10 series were selected from 97 submissions.

16 projects will be presented in In Development and 5 titles in Work in Progress sections.

This year’s selection was carefully picked by the jury. Films were chosen by Fiona van Heemstra, Screenwriter, The Netherlands, Moritz Hemminger, Head of Sales & Acquisitions at The Playmaker, Germany, Anna Waśniewska-Gill, Producer and Partner at WONDER X, Poland. Series projects were selected by Marina Narishkin, Expert in the Business of Entertainment, Serial Entrepreneur, IP Brand Builder, France, Dunja Karlovsek, Editor of Children’s Shows and Media Psychologist, RTV Slovenija, Slovenia, Tim Biedert, Production & Development Executive, Germany.

OFFICIAL SELECTION – KEY INFORMATION

Selected projects are from 16 countries (including co-production countries). Most projects come from Poland (5) and CEE countries (4 projects from Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine), followed by Norway (3), Belgium (2), Germany (2). Austria, Brazil, Finland, France, Ireland present one project each. 4 projects (20%) are international co-productions with countries such as The Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, and Spain.

The majority of projects are aimed at children between 7 and 12 yo (70%), followed by preschool (20%), teens and young adults (10%).

Among selected films there are live-action (5), animation (2), live-action/animation (1), documentary (3) projects. Which gives eleven films in total. Among selected series there are animation (5), live-action (3), live-action with CGI (1), anidoc (1) projects. Which gives ten series in total.

Wide genre spectrum of selected projects include comedy, fantasy, coming of age, fairy tale, musical, drama, anidoc, and adventure titles.

Three projects (Whatever Happened, Welcome to Vegetown, Rainy Days) gained direct invitation as Young Horizons Industry winners selected by our team at m:brane, Animarkt Stop Motion Forum and CEE Animation Forum.

The 8th international co-production forum will take place from 30 September to 2 October 2024 on-site in Warsaw and online, as part of the Young Horizons International Film Festival. Accreditations will be on sale from 1 July.

Market Presentation and Market Screenings titles will be unveiled in a separate press release later on.
