2021 BAFTA Nominations Announced Animation
The 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards nominations have been announced! The awards, that celebrate the national and international film industry, will take place the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2021, and will be broadcast on the BBC.
In 2020 Klaus took home the award for Animated Film whilst the British Short Animation went to Maryam Mohajer for her short film Grandad Was a Romantic. The award for Special Visual Effects went to WW1 drama 1917.
It’s a big year for Pixar who find themselves with two features in the running for Animated Film (feature) and the NFTS who dominate the British Short Animation category with two out of the three nominations. Both animation categories find themselves with only three nominations which looks rather odd considering all the other categories comprise of at least 5 nominations. That won’t matter much to Pixar who find themselves in both the Sound and the Music categories for Soul.
Though BAFTA members are now eligible to vote, here on Skwigly we like to poll the animation community at large to see who you would like to win, so please vote below for the film you’d like to see take home a BAFTA.
